REAPPOINTMENT OF FEDERAL PUBLIC DEFENDER WILLIAM F. NETTLES IV
William F. Nettles IV has expressed an interest in reappointment for an additional term as the Federal Public Defender for the District of South Carolina. Mr. Nettles’s current term expires on February 27, 2026.
The United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, as appointing authority, must assess the quality of representation, service to clients, and the administrative efficiency of the Federal Public Defender office prior to deciding whether the reappointment is warranted. In this process, the Court is soliciting the views of persons in a position to evaluate the performance of the Federal Public Defender, as well as the quality of services provided by the Federal Public Defender office.
Interested parties wishing to comment should visit this survey to share feedback. The Court will not disclose the identity of any commenter who requests confidentiality.
The opportunity for comments via survey or email shall extend through 5:00 p.m. on May 29, 2025.
